Interaction & Application

This subproject makes CUBES Circle visible, tangible, and controllable for people. To this end, a visual twin is being developed—an immersive 3D environment in which users can virtually enter the facility, understand processes, and even operate them.

This technology is designed to support operators in their learning, guide researchers interactively through simulations, and offer the public an understandable insight into a complex system. Potential consumers, citizens, and decision-makers can experience the facility in a realistic way without having to be physically present.

Intuitive interaction options, digital assistance systems, and AI-supported voice interfaces simplify access to high-tech agriculture. In this way, the digital twin not only contributes to research but also strengthens transparency, acceptance, and trust in new forms of food production.

Prof. Dr. Linda Onnasch heads the Chair of Action and Automation Psychology at Technische Universität Berlin. The overarching theme of her research is the investigation of adaptability strategies in human–technology interaction to increase safety and effectiveness. In her work, she conducts laboratory experiments to study adaptive solutions for automated systems and robots, as well as attitude and behavior adjustments on the human side. The focus lies on the resulting interaction between humans and systems, overall performance, and the consequences for humans in terms of mental workload, trust, and situational awareness.
In addition, they investigate the social acceptance of innovative cultivation methods such as CUBES Circle among the general population and potential consumers.

Zoltan Ferenczi (Ph.D.) He is a research associate at the Chair of Urban Ecophysiology, where he designs and develops XR systems (VR/AR/MR) and artificial intelligence (AI) for the CUBES Circle project. Previously, he worked in the project coordination of CUBES.
